During this module, you will develop a solid foundation in healthcare data basics. We will explore the types of data used in healthcare settings, such as patient demographics, clinical data, and administrative data. You will gain an understanding of the importance of data collection, quality assurance, and standardized terminologies for effective healthcare data management.

In this module, we will delve into the critical topic of data integrity and management. You will learn about the challenges and best practices associated with data capture, storage, retrieval, and security. We will discuss methods for ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and privacy, as well as strategies for data governance and data sharing within ambulatory healthcare organizations.

This module focuses on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and its role in safeguarding patient data. You will gain an understanding of the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules and their impact on data protection. We will explore strategies for compliance, risk assessment, and the implementation of appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect patient data.

The final module of the course is dedicated to exploring the various uses of EHRs in ambulatory healthcare management. You will learn how EHRs are utilized for clinical documentation, order entry, decision support, communication, and care coordination. We will also discuss EHR functionalities related to billing, coding, and practice management. Additionally, we will explore the benefits and challenges of EHR implementation and the role of EHR data in generating meaningful insights through dashboards and analytics.
